Harry Belafonte's Calypso was the first album to sell over one million copies in entertainment history. However, only two of the selections on the album were actually calypsos; the rest were other types of Caribbean songs. Since World War II, Americans often used the term "calypso" to refer to any type of song from the English-speaking Caribbean.
