Booklet: A Souvenir of the Caribbean Carnival 1959.
The Carnival was sponsored by the West Indian Gazette and organized by a committee of prominent members of London's Caribbean community. In her introduction to this souvenir booklet, Claudia Jones stated that "a people's art is the genesis of their freedom." Trinidadian vocalist/actor Edric Connor arranged for a portion of the Carnival to be broadcast on BBC television as Trinidad Comes to Town.
