During the post-World War II era, calypso spread to Continental Europe
from England and the United States, as well as directly from the Caribbean.
Lord Kitchener and Lord Beginner, Trinidadian calypsonians based in the
U.K., toured Europe, as did U.S.-based Trinidadian singers Lord Invader
and Sir Lancelot. |

From the 1940s into the 1960s, Max Woiski, a Surinamese musician, ran a nightclub in Amsterdam that often featured calypso artists. |

Jamaica Johnny, a calypso singer living in the Netherlands, made several
recordings during the 1950s. |
