Though the nationwide craze quickly faded, calypso remained a component of the American folk music revival of the late 1950s and 1960s and continued to be popular with vacationers in the Caribbean. At the same time, it remained a major form of music within Caribbean communities in U.S. cities. Changes in immigration law in 1965 contributed to a large increase in migration from the Caribbean during the following decades. New recording companies and performance venues emerged in Brooklyn to serve this growing Caribbean-American market.
