Among the many other Bahamian musicians who worked in the tourist industry in the postwar era were George Symonette, Richie Delamore, Maureen DuValier (Calypso Mama) and the Percentie Brothers. In the Bahamas, as in other parts of the Caribbean, calypso was stereotypically represented to tourists as an exotic, sensual music, associated with tropical beaches and lush foliage. |
