The McClevertys included Carl McCleverty on vocals and Johnny McCleverty on saxophone, as well as a guitarist, pianist and drummer. A band led by Johnny McCleverty in New York in the mid-1950s regularly accompanied the Mighty Charmer, a calypso singer who eventually abandoned music to become a religious leader as Louis Farrakhan.
