Hernán Gamboa is a master of the Venezuelan cuatro, a small four-stringed instrument that is also played in Trinidad. In 1970 Gamboa was one of the founders of the well-known vocal group Serenata Guayanesa, which performed folksongs and calypsos throughout Venezuela.
